Holiday World tops off its new steel coaster, Thunderbird

By Robert Niles: Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana today topped out its first-ever steel coaster, the Bolliger & Mabillard wing coaster Thunderbird.

The 140-foot Immelmann loop topped off today is the highest point on the ride, which will be the first launched B & M wing coaster in the United States when it opens next spring. By the way, let's give a shout-out to Holiday World for getting this track topped off before winter! That should help ensure an on-time arrival for the ride when the park reopens for the season.

How will Thunderbird compare with Holiday World's trio of wooden coasters? Or with the other wings that have opened around the world over the past few years? We'll find out next year. In the meantime, let's take a virtual ride.
